The KU Marketing Club, or KUMC, meets once or twice monthly to listen to a guest speaker in the field of marketing or advertising. Previous speakers come from a wide range of disciplines and industries, including the Kansas City Royals, VMLY&R ad agency, Ad 2 KC, and P&G. From this, students gain real-world knowledge about what it is like to work in their field.
In addition, KUMC goes to Kansas City for our monthly "First Friday Tour," where we tour companies' corporate offices, including AMC Theaters, Barkley ad agency, Charlie Hustle t-shirt company, and Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. After each visit, we go to the Crossroads district of Kansas City to take part in their First Fridays, which is an evening filled with art, food, drinks, and fun!
Through guest speakers and First Friday Tours, you will have face-to-face opportunities to talk to the people that work in the place in which you may want to work, whether it be an internship or a full-time position after graduation.
