FAQ's for promoting events within Capitol Federal Hall
All clubs officially recognized by the UBC must include the UBC logo in all promotional materials of events that are partially or fully funded by the Undergraduate Business Council. Please email email@example.com if you need a transparent logo for your promotional materials.
What's the best way to advertise my event? We suggest classroom visits to your target audience. Many professors will welcome you to make a brief announcement before class, but check with the professor well in advance and come prepared with an easy to read flyer. Occasionally, professors may entertain extra credit points for their students to attend if the event is specifically related to their course material.
How do we get on the UBC calendar and/or KU Business Connect Calendar? Since the UBC and KU Business Connect Calendars are synced, all you have to do is send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include a date, time, location (including room number), and brief description of the event(s). Only events open to the whole School of Business will be included on our calendar.
What about social media? Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram will be effective if you have the followers. Try tagging @KUbschool or @KansasUBC so we can share your posts with our followers! If you have a promotional graphic prepared for an event, you can submit it to email@example.com, and we will post it to the UBC Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages for you. If you want to advertise an event or speaker on the @KUbschool social media pages, email your graphics to Kelsey Cipolla at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do we get on that giant TV? Email your flyer to Michael Brock at email@example.com to get your message out via the video board or the smaller monitors around Capitol Federal Hall. Please provide at least 48 hours notice. Here's what you need to know:
If you design the graphics, you'll need to provide Michael a .jpg file that is 3,648 x 960 pixels in size.
If you need help designing the graphics, provide Michael with basic information about your event and he can help you with the design process. If your club plans to have Michael create the graphic, you must notify him well in advance of the event (a few weeks at least).
Provide Michael with start and end dates for the graphic to run.
Can I get my event or speaker distributed to external audiences? Yes! Email your major event or speaker notice to Lauren Cunningham at firstname.lastname@example.org a month before your event or speaker is to come. They will then write about or create content regarding your event to be sent out to external audiences like alumni. It is not guaranteed for your submission to be included but a strong possibility if you leave enough time for the communications team to include your submission.
